PushPen Press was launched in May 2013 by Steve “Spike” Wong and Jan McCutcheon. Spike had a crazy idea about publishing a big project, and for some cosmic reason approached Jan and pitched the deal to her. Turns out that Jan had her own passions that jived with Spike’s, so the two combined their strengths, ignored their weaknesses, drank a boatload of coffee, and with the devoted help of friends and colleagues, published their first book, TWO@SJSU in October 2013.
While enamored of young, new writers, they are equally intrigued by uniquely vibrant voices and stories. On top of that is their need to create challenging “assignments” for writers, looking to present the written word in different perspectives and formats.
